Safeguarding

Safeguarding checked

Choosing who coaches your child matters. Providers with our Safeguarding checked badge have supplied safeguarding evidence that our team has checked.

What we check

To carry the badge, a provider gives us current evidence of the safeguarding basics for working with under-18s, and we confirm each one:

  • FA Enhanced DBS (with the Children's Barred List check) for coaches - valid within the last 3 years
  • FA Safeguarding Children certificate - valid within the last 3 years
  • A recognised coaching qualification (at least the Introduction to Coaching Football, or a UEFA C Licence or above)
  • Public Liability insurance of at least £10 million
  • Where relevant, England Football Accreditation status and a named Welfare Officer

What the badge does and doesn't mean

The badge confirms that, on the date we checked, the provider showed us the documents above. Each badge carries a "verified on" date and expires when the underlying checks lapse. It is not a guarantee of coaching quality or your child's safety, and it isn't a substitute for your own judgement - we always encourage parents to visit, ask questions, and confirm details directly.

Are you a provider?

If you'd like the Safeguarding checked badge, get in touch and we'll tell you how to submit your evidence. If you have a safeguarding concern about any provider listed here, please report it to us and contact the relevant County FA.
